Between a rock and a hard place with Blue Cross & Tricare Prime
I am between a rock & a hard place. My Blue Cross requires me to lose 10% of my body weight (down to 219). Tricare requires me to be at least 100 lbs over the Metropolitan Life Insurance ideal body weight (235). I am down to 220 now. I may have to postpone the surgery to 2010, use Blue Cross only and save up for the balance after insurance.
I can see the predicament your in. Having Tricare as your secondary insurance they may not pay the balance if you don't meet their requirments, but since your not using tricare as your primary insurance they may have different guidelines for payment as a secondary insurer. I don't see why they wouldn't pay the remainder of the balance as long as you follow the primary insurance guidelines and it's not more than the allowable charge.
I would call tricare to find out, and I would call several times because you can get different answers depending on who you talk to.
