fill/unfill - cost

my last visit to CHRIAS (chrias.com) was my last - at all costs.  i went back to CHRIAS (chrias.com) on 3/18.

i found out i have a 4 cc band.  i was at 1.75 cc.

i have paid cash for the hospital, anesthesia, surgeon, appointments and fills.  my insurance's reply  has been "expenses for weight modification including appetite suppressants are not covered by the terms of your contract".  (bite me!)

i wanted a fill.  i asked for 1 cc fill.  Dr.  said it was too much. 

we didn't know how much was in the band since there was an error in my records. 
1. first the band was emptied.  to verify what was in the band.  there was an error in the record. 
2. then my requested fill was put in.   oops too much.  we found out  immediately since the water would not go down.
3.  Dr.  said he would take .5 out but would have to charge me for the unfill.  I thought he was kidding.

he had just emptied the band.  put in the requested fill.  then had to remove some fill since it was too tight. 

i ended with a total of 2.25 out of 4 cc.

i was charged a double visit. OMG!!!!  (DON'T MEAN TO WHINE BUT - I AM FOOTING THE BILL HERE, I AM UNEMPLOYED, I AM TRYING. . .)

just wanted to vent.  business is business but wanted to warn/let others know.

the fill center where I am charges 50.00 for an appointment, and 100.00 (total) for a fill.
Is there a chance that that is where you got the 'double' from?  Maybe the appointment fee is separate from the fill charge?

If not, and they actually charged you twice in the same appointment, you should definitely speak with the business manager and follow up with the Better Business Bureau if you don't get satisfaction.

The doctor was just trying to get over!  I would fight it if I were you. You pay for an adjustment not how much you put in or out. Don't go for that, that is a bunch of garbage!!!
