anyone have anthem bc calif. and vsg sleeve?

Hello California:

This question is for my sister, who has anthem blue cross of california.  She wants the vsg. Anyone getting approval through insurance, and which doctor did your surgery?. Thanks for your help.

I have that insurance and got denied due to investigational. My surgeon did a peer to peer and that got denied too. I appealed with my insurance and I also am appealing with the DMHC in California. I have yet to hear from either one.

Yep, I'm in the same boat as the other poster.  I have Anthem BC of CA PPO and have lost 2 appeals due to "investigational".  I too have filed a claim with the Department of Managed Care - still pending action.  I feel VSG is the most appropriete of all WLS out there and will continue to fight until I've exhasted all avenues.   If not won... I'll have to reconsider Bypass which I really don't want at this point.

Best to your sister... it's a struggle for most of us - let her know Anthem plays hard ball!
