$60,000 limit on policy

I believe I may have posted this one before on here but forgot the answer to it. Today when the nurse called from UHC she did remind me that I only had $60,000 policy for the weight surgery. I told her my surgeon was not concerned at all about that.

Should I be concerned about that ?

well im self pay and from NJ but so far my total costs have been less then 25k, including a year of follow up visits with my surgeon. they only additional costs i am anticipating would be if i needed to stay extra nights in the hospital. i know the self pay rate is less but i would think you would be ok.

but hey it doesnt hurt to ask your surgeon & hospital for a break-down of the anticipated costs.

I had UHC and even though I had a 3 million dollar life time limit on the policy, the facility fee was about 25000 and the dr fees where about 10000 after you take the contract fee into account so you should be ok.  However if you want the check, then ask the DR for the CPT code that he/she will bill for the surgery and if he/she is going to use an assistant surgeon.  Also dont forget the anesthesia.  That way you can ball park figure it.
