Hi All
I am considering a secondary insurance policy to cover my insurance company. I know that sometimes there is a 12 month period that u have to be on the insurance before they approve it but I am willing to wait :). Anyway What are some good insurance companies to consider?

Tiffany if you are looking for a secondary individual policy that you get on your own, then you will proably not find an insurance company that will have WLS coverage.  Having been in the industry for over 30 years, I have not found 1 insurance company that will write an individual policy that has weight loss coverage.

hmm..well i know that I might have to meet some requirements and such..but I thought that maybe I could find another policy in which wls is somewhat in the policy?

Tiffany its unfortunate but you will probably not find one sorry

Sorry Tiffany, Vicki is right.  You'd be hard pressed to find an individual policy to cover WLS.  And depending on your weight and other health issues, you might be hard pressed to find an individual policy to cover you at all.

They are very correct!! All of the insurance companies are the same when it comes to writing a wls exclusion for an individual plan...They will NOT do it. I don't know why but that is the mystery of those damn insurance companies. Best of luck to you!!

lol im so confused then! how come people are gettin approvals by insurance..iwasnt talking about a wls insurance plans..i dont think those exist..im just talkin about an insurance plan that at least has u do the process or approval. like i have anthem bcbs and they dont approve weight loss surgery at all.

Your anthem bcbs...is that through your employer? If so, that is a group plan. Usually an employer has the option to include a wls exclusion. A wls exclusion normally reads..."no coverage is provided for bariatric services unless patient has BMI over **" something to that affect.

If you were to walk into a bcbs to buy insurance for yourself, that is an individual policy and there will NOT be a wls exclusion. So trying to get approved for a wls on an individual plan will be very difficult, really it isn't even possible. Hope this helps.
