Does the insurance company fax their decision to the doctor's office?  How else would they find out the decision before you do.

They will most likely contact the surgeon's office before they contact you since it was the doc's office that submitted the paperwork, not you. My insurance company called and gave a verbal approval to my surgeon's office, then followed up with a letter sent via snail mail.
