Anybody have any advice for me?  I have Health Alliance HMO, which I might add I of course have been paying for years and years!  I am a child support worker with the state of Illinois,
They have just sernt me another letter of denial.  They insist due to my hypothyroidism they will not cover the wls.  My thyroid needs to be in the normal range for at least six months.  The longest it has been normal is four months.  I am on 200mcg of synthroid daily!  I am afraid if I don't have it soon I will die!  I have edema, arthritis of knees and spine, type II diabetis, high blood pressure, high chloestrol, degenerative disc disease.  I can only walk or stand for a few seconds the pain is too severe!  My husband passed away from pancreatic cancer in 2004 and I have the most wonderful 16 year old daughter in the world!  However, we have no family!  Without me she has literally NO ONE!!!  She woould not be able to handle it!  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!  Frustrated in Illinois!!!

I don't have any advice, but I just wanted to say I'm sorry. What does your dr. say? What is their plan?
Good luck, I hope you get some advice and I hope you get your approval.

Thank you for the replies!!!  I am to the point I really don't know what to do! The insurance company won't budge.  You can only apply twice.  Then you kicked out of the program & have no hopes of having the WLS.

I am currently in the process of finding a new doctor & am going to take it from there.  I have thought about speaking with an attorney.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!!
