Tricare weight table - which number?
I'm currently doing all the pre-ops ordered by my doctor, I got a consult to see the bariatric surgeon with no problem from Tricare.
I know the Met Life table is used by Tricare, but I've seen the part of the handbook that says the doctor is supposed to apply the 200% to both the lower and upper numbers in the range. Exactly what does that mean? I'm over the 200% for the lower number in the range, but not the upper.
Confused!!! Has anyone had experience with Tricare to know which number in the weight range they actually go by?
Thanks!

They use medium frame for everyone and then in the weight range for your height they multiply the lower number by 2 to get the 200%. They don't use the upper number. If you are at the 200% you will be approved. I missed by 5 pounds and was denied and have sent in an appeal and am waiting to hear back. Good luck.

I am in the Tricare North region...living in NH. It seems the North region is the toughest to get approval....who knows if that's the case. The North is managed by Health Net Federal Services. My appeal was received by them on March 17th and I'm waiting every day for a response. I'm so antsy I can't stand it. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'll do the same for you. Good Luck.
