Hi All,

Has anyone claimed Vitamins & Protein Powder/Shakes/Bars/etc.. on their Medical Flex Spending Account?    Did you need a letter of justification from your surgeon?

Thanks!

My FSA requires a letter of medical necessity from my PCP before they will cover vitamins.

I've been wondering about this as well. Thanks for the info.

I tried to pay for an Rx, calcium & Vitamin D with my Flex card and only the Rx went thru. The Pharmacist said it is Federally regulated.

That is correct, but if you get a letter of medical necessity for the vitamins, you can get reimbursed from you FSA for them. It still won't go through at the point of purchase, but there should be a form you submit with a receipt to get reimbursed.
