i posted on the main board then remebered about this one. I will have jumped through all my insurnce hoops on March 23rd (my last PCP and dietician visit). I have done all my tests for my surgeon (lab, xray, etc etc). So i am wondering, how long does it take to get approval from my insurance? They said 12 months continuous pcp and dietician and that will be it..ok, well what will be finished on the 23rd, now what? My dietician said, she had all the paperwork ready for my last visit so she can send her stuff in same day (i dont know if she meant to the surgeon or the insurance?).
I am just trying to make an educated guess whether i will be having surgery in April or in May? Anyone know anything about this stuff?????

It all depends on your insurance.  If they have everything they need it can be anywhere from a few days to a month.  I think that typically it is 1-2 weeks.  I have BCBS of MN and it took 6 calendar days.

As far as when you have your surgery, that will depend on how your surgeon runs his practice and how far out they schedule.  I think typically it is 3-5 weeks from your surgeon appointment.  Mine is 4-1/2 weeks from surgeon visit; 6 weeks from insurance approval.

ok, that is more clear. I dont know when i go to see him next? I still have to get my EGD next monday and then i have done all he requires...i am feeling dumbfounded, i think he said to call the office after that? I guess I had better call and make sure (I feel so lost in all this). but they did say they are about 4 weeks out (right around what you said) so i am going to take a guess it will be around 6 weeks (which puts me into May)...eh

I have BCBS of New Jersey.  All my info was submitted via certified mail 6 days ago.  I don't expect to hear anything for at least another week.  The waiting is definitely the hardest part.

I didn't wait. I called the insurance company every day once my info was submitted!
