Ok...so I have Aetna POS II.  I have been doing the three month regiment for approval.  We believe we are finally finished, but the office manager at my Dr's office was a little negative.  She said she has never seen Aetna approve anyone without a six month diet.  So now I am NERVOUS!!!  I have been going through this since last July.  Ok here is what I have...

9 year weight history
Four months with my PCP, including a medical necessity letter.
Three months with a NUT...letters and notes for each visit.
Pulmonary clearance
Cardio clearance
Gastro clearance
Chest xray
Lab work
Stomach ultrasound
Pysch eval
two months of my excerice log
Personal letter from me, describing my prior attemps at weight loss including what i have done now to prepare for Post Op life, such as attending surgery support group, researching on here, joining a gym..etc..

Co-morbities...Metabolic Syndrome, Severe Sleep Apnea, BMI of 66...oh and found out today that I have gall stone and the gall bladder would be removed during surgery.

Anyway...the surgeon feels we have enough documentation to get approved, but the office manager came off with a negative vibe.  We scheduled the surgery for march 23rd.  I am freaking out!!!  I am HOPING and PRAYING that it gets approved.

What do you guys think...am I missing anything?

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.  My info was sent to my insurance company yesterday so I'm also waiting.

Good luck!

I've heard that you can do either the 6 month supervised diet with your PCP or the 3 month multidisciplinary plan to get Aetna approval. If that's what your benefits package says and you meet Aetna criteria, I wouldn't stress about it. Not all office personal in surgeons' offices know what is required for each specific insurer. Don't stress about the office manager. As long as your surgeon thinks you have enough to get approved and their office has sent your info over to Aetna, you're good to go. Best of luck to you. I hope you get a quick decision and it is an approval.

You might be alright with your information.  I did the 6 months and was denied because I did not have 6 months proof of exercise plan.  So then I did the 3 months and sent in for apeal.  I was then approved.

Something I have learned reading through so many experiences, you never know what will happen with Insurance companies.

Best of luck to you and I know how anxious it is waiting but keep the positive thoughts!

I have also just submitted approval with my state Medicaid insurance. I don't know what is going to happen.
We'll have to see. I've been waiting and waiting doing everything on the insurnace list. I just finished my 1 year supervised diet and got everything turned in.
Let's all pray together.
