Hey everybody. I found out for sure that my insurance will only cover $15,000 lifetime for any weight loss surgery. So, that leaves me w/quite a hefty bill. (about $15,000!) If I go self pay it's $20,000. So, for $5000 more, I could get the surgery on MY  schedule. I am really down right now. Like a lot of people these days, we are facing a lot of financial obstacles anyway.  It's not that I can't justify getting the surgery, it is just that the $$$ isn't there. I think I am done crying about it. (Almost) I just need to keep on truckin and maybe our finances will change or I'll get a job with better insurance than my DH's work has. Has anyone managed to get their company to change the limits on their insurance?  The stupid thing is that he works for a company where people NEVER leave!  So, if you take the statistic that the cost of surgery is lower than the cost of paying for the complications of obesity over ten years, I think the company is making a mistake. Especially if the nature of their business is ALL ABOUT STATISTICS!!!!
I think it's time to put on my researcher hat and get busy....and win the lottery!

Wow, that sucks!  I know that at my wls clinic, the self pay for RNY is about $25k and the band about $20k.  $30k seems kind of high.  Have you considered Mexico?  Will your insurance cover anything out of country?
