Aetna ?
I got approval without co-morbidities! I had to do the 3 month supervised weight loss, and psych eval. I really sweated my approval, it was so last minute and I had to do it before the end of the year, but everything worked out just fine! Aetna wasn't bad to work with, but I would make sure all your stuff is turned in at the same time and keep on them for approval. My surgeon said it can take 10-14 days and my approval was originally for RNY when I wanted the lap-band all along so it had to be sent back for review!
Good luck on your journey! It takes some doing, but it's a heck of a ride!

As long as you have a BMI of 40 or more and have 2 years of documented history, you don't have to have any co-morbs. I did the 3 month regimen and was approved in just a few days. I'll be happy to send you the steps of what I did and the letters that we submitted. Just PM me your email address. :)

I just sent it again. Let me know if that works. I had problems trying to send it to someone else too.

Yup, like Rosie already said, all you need is a BMI of 40+ for the past 2 years. I know of at least 2 people personally who got approved through Aetna with no comorbidites--they are NOT a requirement. And, from what I've seen, Aetna is pretty good with approvals. I got mine in about a week after my information was submitted. I know multiple people in real life who have gone through the process with Aetna, and we've all gotten approved on the first submittal. As long as you fulfill their requirements (3-month program or 6-month diet, BMI 40+ for 2 years, etc.), you should be good to go!
And I love Aetna because they approve the DS without a fight!

How did I get to be so lucky to have all the issues with Aetna :( Was denied the first submittal because I did not have enough documented exercise even though I have a high BMI and several co morbididies.
Submitted appeal and am still waiting for a decision and they wont tell me anything other than to call back at the deadline date.
I am going NUTS waiting!
