seeking an surgeon in east tn who accepts Johndeer Americhoice

Hi everyone, I could use some help having trouble finding a surgeon to accept me. I had appointment with one and they cancelled my appointment saying I need to diet two more times for three months each saying that the insurance will not accept unless I do this. I have done the supervised diet for 6 months and pass sycological evaluation. And have 5 years history of being over a BMI of 40. At this point my BMI is 56. I have been over weight all my life at 16 I weighed 225. I afraid I will be this size forever. Any Help will be very much helpful. I live in ****e county. In TN

I actually work for Americhoice and am very familiar with the guidelines. A lot of our patients use Dr. Stephen Boyce in Knoxville. Also might try Dr. Mark Colquit in Maryville. Guidelines only require you to participate in a 6 month medically supervised diet.  I am not sure where they are getting the 2 more times for 3 months each. That is not true.

Thanks Kashbrook I really appreciate the help. I do have appointment with Dr. Boyce tomorrow. The problem with Boyce is that I need to pay 1500 out of pocket cost. That is going to be hard for me since the only income in the house is my husband disablity. Can they charge this amount? I know it is for after surgery treatment. Thanks again.

Unfortunately they can charge that amount and those are not billable charges to the insurance company.
