drugs and supplies??? (xpost)

Hi All!
My name is Charlotte.  My husband and I attended a seminar Tuesday night for the Realize Band and we both feel this is the right time for me to do this for myself.  I am trying to find out the cost of everything so that we can either start saving or borrow some money from my parents.  We have BCBS of GA through the USDA.  The only "unknown" right now is that we pay 30% of drugs and supplies used at the hospital.  No one seems to know at the hospital or my docs office even a ballpark figure so I am not sure I can continue without knowing if it is going to be $500 or $5000.  I thought that maybe someone here or many of you here would have an idea what that might cost.  Even a rough estimate is better than I have now.  Thanks in Advance! 

My Lapband was $8900, but that was in Mexico. I live in MS and they charge around $13000 in this area.

Call the hospital you plan on using and ask them what the average cost is for a lap band.  They should be able to give you an idea.  Also, the insurance company should be able to tell you what the approved amount is.  If you are using a participating hospital, the difference between approved and charged is written off.   Lastly, most of the time, the staff at the surgeon's office should have the info to share with you.  None of these methods will be exact because everyone is differennt, but they should be a good ball park.
