Insurance HELP!

Hi everyone! I am really wanting to get the gastric sleeve done by Greg Walton in Oklahoma. I live in Enid, Oklahoma. I can't afford to pay out of pocket and I don't have enough established credit to approve for a loan.

My only choice is insurance. My husband has insurance he can have through his work called Afflac but I'm not sure if they cover for the sleeve.

I am willing to get individual insurance just for me but I don't know where to start? I have been looking all over the internet for insurance..

Does anyone know any insurance companies that cover for weight loss surgeries?

I have a BMI of 41 so I'm not worried about the qualifications of getting approved.

If anyonce can help please let me know! Thanks soooo much!

From my understanding wls will not be covered on an individual plan, it is mostly written into group plans, such as an employer. As far as Aflac, I believe they are supplemental insurance...I could be wrong. Best of luck!!

Hello-
Afflac is not an insurance that will pay for any type of weight loss surgery, they are only a supplemental or major medical coverage. Most individual plans DO NOT cover weight loss surgery either and if they do, they usually have a pre-existing condition clause that will last up to 2 years. This means that they will not approve surgery until the time frame is up (most individual plans have a 6 month to 2 year clause). The other thing to know about is that the monthly payment on an individual plan can be very high (especially if you find one that covers weight loss surgery) and it may be less expensive in the long run to pay out of pocket for the surgery.

I know you mentioned that you have looked into financing, but do not have the credit history to be approved. Have you looked at getting a co-signer? What financial institutions have you consulted with? I'd encourage you to look at all your options. If you move forward as a self-pay patient, then I'd also advise you to look into having your surgery performed by a BLIS Surgeon. This top performing group of surgeons includes protection from covered complications should they happen in certain time frames following surgery; this means that you will not have to pay out of pocket for treatment of the covered complications should they happen. This is very important in order for you to limit you costs! If you would like more information about this or help, please visit our website or email directly for additional assistance.

I wish you the best of luck in your journey towards weight loss surgery!

How about a part time job at Starbucks?

I hear they offer insurance for part timers and they cover WLS. Not sure if they specifically cover VSG.
