my surgeon submitted everything to them to have the vertical sleeve done, and I got the call today that they denied it due to have a BMI less then 50? but right on their website under medical policies it states a BMI of 40 or more or 35 with one or more comorbids...I have two...so how can they deny it, the nurse who does the appeals is at another office today so she is going to look in to it for me tomorrow, but sheesh, how can it say 40 bmi right on their site and they deny it..

do you have the comorrbiddites well documented too?
draaw taht to the appeals nurse attention too. so she can let the dr. ( Medical Director know ) the commorbiddites  are and they are medically documented like high blood pressure- on meds.
I do ur and have been an appeals nurse for a while too.
They only way they coul,d deny it  from what  you are saying is maybe the domorbiddities are not standing out to them. If I can be of any help let me know.
I was hoping for good news for you today. but hang in there, it can still be overturned on appeal.
