Someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe they all pay for it unless your employer excludes weight loss surgery.  Of course any of the insurance companies will make you submit the needed documentation to prove it is medically necessary, previous diet attempts have failed, etc etc.

Not all insurance companies pay for bariatric surgery, you have to look at the specific policy that you are getting and see if it is excluded in any form.  For instance, you say that you are "looking for an insurance company that does cover RNY..."---so, I am assuming that you are searching for an individual policy.  I think you will be hard pressed to find an affordable individual policy that will cover bypass, particularly b/c they will require a med check prior and exclude it, most likely, if you are currently classified as morbidly obese.

If you do have a policy through your employer, then you will have to check & see if bypass is excluded....

I hope this helps...and I hope that if you are searching for an individual policy you find one that includes bypass!!

Good luck!  Keep us updated.

If you are looking into finding a individual policy that is not associated with an employer, individuals policies will not include bariatric surgery of any kind.  They will not underwrite individual policies with WLS included, to costly and if you did find one your premiums would be probably more in 1 year than you would pay for the actual surgery as a self pay.
