Paying for surgery...if insurance denies you
Hello-
There are lots of people in your shoes that end up having to pay for surgery out of their pocket. There are a few things to consider when going in this direction - the first is financing (how do I pay for my surgery?) and the other is the cost of post-op care and the possibility of complications.
Financing - There are a few options out there if you need to finance your surgery - let me know if you are looking for options and I'd be happy to help guide you to some of those.
Post-Op Care - Your insurance will not pay for your post-operative care (most likely) because it is related to the procedure they denied. You will have to pay out of pocket for post-op visits, labs, etc. Your surgeon should automatically include 90 days of post-op care in the price you pay him/her for surgery, but after that 90 days, you are usually on your own.
Protection From Complications - It is important if you are a self-pay patient, that you take the time to research and find a surgeon that will help protect you from the financial effects of complications should they occur following surgery. The only surgeons that can do this are BLIS Surgeons. If you have your surgery performed by a BLIS Surgeon, the price you pay for your surgery will include financial protection from complications. You can look at it like a 'surgery warranty' the price you pay comes with the protection included. This means that should a complication arise in certain time frames following surgery, you will not have to pay out of pocket for the care of that complication. BLIS will step in and pay your bills. To learn more about BLIS and how to find a BLIS Surgeon, click on the link below or email directly. I'd be happy to answer more questions and help you find a BLIS Surgeon.
I wish you the best of luck in your journey towards weight loss surgery!
