Dr Jossard and insurance question
I called Dr Jossard office and was told that I have to pay up fromt the doctor's fee, close to 10K, and then my insurance (Sutter Select PPO) will pay me back in couple of month. Anyone with similar issue? The anesthesia and hospital stay will be covered for sure, but this doctor's pay...little bit strange. What if insurance will not pay me back? thank you

There are quite a few surgeons who charge this fee. It assures that the surgeons' get paid the full price for the surgery they perform. If Dr. Jossard charges 10k for the surgery and your insurance pays 5000 then you'll get 5000 back. I think it sucks that surgeons are now charging fees, that's what insurance is for. If they don't like how much they get paid from insurance then don't except it at all. Are you trying to get the DS? Dr. Crookes at USC does not charge a surgeon's fee or a program fee. Some surgeons don't charge a surgeon's fee but then they charge you a program fee. And those are not covered by insurance at all. Best of luck. Shop around if you don't want to pay the fee, I think it's highway robbery myself.
