United HealthCare Exclusions

I have insurance through United HealthCare and they have a written exlcusion policy that says "surgical or non surgical treatment for obesity or morbid obesity".  Has anyone out there had WLS as an exclusion and have any of you been able to get them to override your benefits and approve the surgery?  I have an appeal hearing on 12/1/08.  Is there any advice that you can give me to help when I speak to them at the hearing.

I also have UHC and my plan also has an exclusion for weight loss treatment of any kind.   UHC denied my first request for coverage, I'm looking help on filing an appeal.   How did you file the appeal?

Just to let you know it's not UHC themselves that are denying your request, the company you work for has written the exclusion into their policy. THEY have to approve it, but with a written exclusion it's going to be a hard road to travel. I wish you well.
