new job, insurance approval
Hello everyone!
I have received an approval from my insurance (Presbyterian Health Plan in New Mexico). I am in the process of taking care of pre-op stuff in order to get a surgery date, but looking at about Mid- December. Blood work is done and have EKG and Chest Xray tomorrow, which will be the last of pre-op stuff.
Her'es my problem. The same day I rec'd my approval notice, I also received (and later accepted) a job offer. It's an opportunity I can't pass up. AFter a lot of prayer, I decided I would bite the bullet and accept the new job.
I am fully able and prepared to pay COBRA until my new insurance kicks in after 90 days. It will be under COBRA that I will have the surgery.
My questions: Should there be any problems with COBRA picking up the cost of surgery (RNY Lap)? My insurance company has assigned me a nurse case manager, do I need to inform her of the change? Any other suggestions for dealing with this situation? I have been battling for a year to get surgery approved and want to make this transisiton as easy as possible. Anything in particular I need to know about this process?? My insurance will end as of the day my job ends 11.7.08. I was told Cobra would back date coverage to assure there is not a lack of coverage. And was under the impression that lack of coverage was what I needed to avoid more than anything. My new insurance will not kick in for 90 days and will be BCBS of NM.
Thanks for any help!!!
