Do you have a HMO or PPO? If you have a PPO and your insurance doesn't have an exclusion against WLS then go to Pacificcare's website and find an in network WL surgeon. Call them up make an appointment and their office will help you with getting insurance approval. If you have an HMO, then good luck, lol. Read this post I wrote about what to do if you have a HMO. Hopes it helps. Best of luck

Edited to add have you looked into getting the DS surgery? I am 5'1 and about 250 lbs, I was 240 when I started this whole process. I have already been approved for RNY but am fighting my insurance to get the DS. Because the DS offers both restriction and malabsorption you are able to lose more weight and keep it off. Check out the DS board and all the other boards on here, make sure you research all your options before you decide which surgery you want.
