Anyone appealed BCBS of Michigan to get a VSG?

 My insurance carrier is BC/BS of Michigan and  they cover 100% RNY and LB but will only cover 
VSG for patients with a BMI of over 50, mine is 42.5
The VSG the surgery of choice for me... but I am so desperate I am tempted to get the RNY because I can do it NOW! But I don't want to make a rush decision and except something that makes me very nervous. Has anyone else with BCBS of Michigan or any other state for that matter had success getting them to cover a VSG on appeal?
