My situation is similar... but my insurance is with BCBSFL - and it's self-funded.  They are telling me there's no way and that their guidelines are filed with the state of Fla like that.  I just got a letter of medical necessity from my PCP yesterday, and I really dont know what to do with it.  I've written letters to my HR dept, trying to get them to advocate, but they are so passive.  I'm not ready to give up and you shouldnt be either... if we do, we'll never get this surgery, and that's just not an option for me.  Let me know what you find out.

Thanks,

Kelly

I am sorry you got denied , I know how you are feeling I have been denied twice and now I had to send my appeals to the appeals and hearing department and wait 60 days for answer. It's frustrating when other people with the same insurance gets approved and they deny you. I am like you this is medically necessary .I feel like taking MY hands around their throat and say look at me , i need this surgery. lol
What ever you do don't give up thats what they want you to do. well good luck and hang in there
