Need some advice
Alright, I am sort of freaking out here, so bear with me. I have BCBSIL, and the company I work for mandates 12 mos of physician supervised weight loss program for WLS approval. The hang up is that there were no appts available in december, because they were closed for two weeks. So I missed that monthly appt, and in June I had an appt on the 27th, which I had to reschedule for the beginning of July. SO I only had 11 visits, and I am going to do another one on October 1st in order to get 12 visits in, (my year was up sept 14th). Have I totally lost the ability to get approved for missing those two visits? In decemeber, I was not even considering WLS, so I didn't sweat the visit but now I am beginning to stress about it.
Anyone have any advice?
I am going to talk to my MD about writing a letter to the insurance co about the missed visits, but who knows if that will work. Should I call my insurance co? or keep it secret from them?

Are the appointments more than 30 days apart? If not then you may have a chance. I would just do another appointment and hopefuly all they will see is that you have the year appoinments and not pay to much attention on the dates. I'm not for sure but if the appointments are within the 30 day period you may be ok. Skye
When you go to your apts make sure the doctor makes notation of your weight loss attmepts. That you actually discuss your weight loss progress or failure. AND HE HAS TO MAKE a notation of it. That is pretty important also. I only had to have 6 mo of visits on BCBS of MN and they just changed that from 12 to 6 mo of supervised weight loss in August. I have been going since January. I missed March, April and June. BUMMER@! So I have to start over with July. I have to go every month. My insurance said that June wouldn't count against me but the surgeon's office said it will keep me from getting approved. SO! I hurry up and wait.
I posted on here earlier that I talked to someone here Friday night about insurance questions and she e-mailed me a form that her doc filled out for each month. Well, she filled it out and her doc signed off on it. That BCBS of MN approved her in just a few days after getting those forms in. If you want the form e-mail me and I'll be happy to send it to you!

PS I am just offering because I wish I had known sooner about this form. If my doc won't sign the papers for the last 3 months then I have to start over with my 6 month sup weight loss.
