6 month diet ?...

Hi everyone.  I'm new to this forum and I am in dire need of advice.  I have BCBSIL insurance and as many of you know, they require a 6 month diet.  I did that.  However... My Dr. kept telling me that it wasn't really necessary  to come in every month for an actual visit,  that I could just come by and weigh and he would record my weight.  I explained to him about the insurance requirements and he assured me he would cover it in my chart.  (I know, I should have stuck to my guns!)  Now,  I am in the process of getting my paperwork together to submit to BCBS and surprise, surprise... my  6 month diet record.... CRAP!  I do have a consecutive 8 month record, but there are 3 times when I only went by to weigh, so only my weight and lbs. lost are recorded.  I honestly don't know what to do.   Should I go ahead and submit my request now and fight the denial in appeal should it happen? (I do have diabetes and a BMI of 56) or just do another 6 month diet and submit then?  I have read horror stories about BCBSIL and honestly, I'm terrified!!

12 months?!?!?!?!?   Do these people even read their own medical policies???  The policy clearly states a 6 month supervised diet, so  ?    This process is driving me nuts!  lol  Good luck to you with your approval... I have my fingers crossed for ya!

nope  i can honestly say they dont know there own policies. i have everything turned in that they require and they keep tell us that i need this extra and that extra. they really are a terrible insurance to approve this surgery. i know iam so frusterated myself. i mean why do we even pay for insurance if we have to go through the trouble to get the services that we need. ya know?

I am in my 6 months diet also.  I have BC/BS of MN.  I met another OH member who was approved using a form.  Her doc had to sign them for each month.  she said BC/BS of MN approved her using these forms.  I can e-mail it to you if you want.  She e-mailed it to me and I don't think I will have problems getting apv now.  Just let me know if you want the form.
Lots of luck
