Appealing Cigna's decision is asthma comorbid?

I called and the agent told me over the phone that I was denied. I haven't gotten an official letter yet but she said it was because I didn't have a 6-month diete program (which I did) and that I didn't have a BMI over 40 for more than two years. I'm going to get my medical records for my asthma/allergy specialist saying that I have asthma. I wasn't sure if this was a comorbid condition and my BMI was over 40 for more than two years. (Apparently losing weight during those 6 months put me under.) So I didn't bother to include it in my initial paper work but I will include it when I appeal.

So I have two questions...has anyone appealed Cigna and gotten approved? And...Is asthma a co-morbid condition?

I would not take this lying down - if you lose weight during the required diet that should not disqualify you. I don't think Asthma is a co-morbid because perfectly skinny people can have it. It has be cause or severly increased by obesity.

I say, get pro-active, get their requirments for approval in writing, and them give them double the documentation to prove you qualify in their own words.
Duodenal Switch hybrid due to complications.

If your below BMI 40, you need one comorbitities. It doesn't list asthma but it also says not limited to......

I would get all your doctors records for every visit for the past few years to show your weight.

Good luck.

OMG I was approved. I sent them my 2 year medical history and they approved me before the ink was dry on the fax.
