So what is the purpose really of the physician supervised weight loss? Is it to see if you can lose the weight? or to judge how compliant you are going to be with following the post op maintenance?  I mean, if you lose weight during this period, do they say, HA, see you can lose weight without having surgery, and stamp DENIED all over your request?  What is the POINT?????????????

I think it's an obstacle to make it hard to get approval.  They want to see that you will commit to the process and follow a plan before they approve you for a 25,000 procedure.  I imagine it weeds out a lot of people.

I'm two months into my 6 month supervised diet.  It's annoying for sure but I don't think I will be denied if I lose  some weight as most doctors want you to lose weight before your procedure anyway.

You can do it!  Six months will go by quickly.

Well, since they don't count the first visit I have just had my 3rd visit just this last week.  My doctor has been pretty good.  She lets me just come in and have the nurse weigh me so I don't have to pay a co-pay each time.  But.... since she is still monitoring my blood pressure and my depression medication, I have to see her again next week anyway.  Did you realize that if you don't see your doctor exactly within a 30 day period, you have to start all over?  I didn't, and I almost messed up!  Oh boy, that would have really upset me!  That's why I had to go this week, so I didn't mess that up.  But the not knowing is what is really trying my patience.  You have to go through all this not knowing if you are doing it all for nothing, you know only to be denied in the end anyway.  That's the hard part!
