Switching approvals from Lap-Band to RNY with Aetna - anyone else ever done this?

My PCP has highly suggested and convinced me that I should reconsider the lapband and have the RNY instead.  My surgeon re-submitted my paperwork to Aetna (for the 3rd time) and didn't change the request from lap-band to RNY.  I have now been approved for the lap-band and am asking the surgeon to re-submit for the RNY.  Has anyone else done this?  Does this create a problem? or is it fairly simple to switch from one procedure to another?  Let me know.  I just hate to lose my approval for the lap-band just in case they deny the RNY.  I have been fighting the insurance since January 2008 and FINALLY got an approval!!!

1) An approval cannot be rescinded. So don't worry about "making them mad" and taking back the approval for the first proceedure.

2) If you have already been approved for one, yes, it should be real easy just to re-submit the same info to get approved on the other. They should have the same criteria.
