Cigna..........I want to hear GOOD things.........
I have been submitted to Cigna for approval, last Wednesday. My Surgeon and Bariatric Center submitted a complete package, after 6 month diet, where I HAD lost the required 14 pounds, (they said if I didn't I might not be approved or submitted) and my doctors note had everything they needed to see documented in a letter, which I provided to her in a note on my last (6 months) appt date. My Bariatric center gave me bullet points of what her letter had to say to bring with me.
Anyway, everything is in, Cigna has always been so nice when I called through out this process to be sure I had done everything the way they wanted. Today when I called they said that it was "past the first phase" and had been passed to a Nurse for review, meaning nothing was missing.
I have high blood pressure and stupid sleep apnea, plus bmi over 40.
anyone have good things to say about Cigna. I am tired of all the negatives and want to be positive.

Hi there, just wanted to let you know things should work out fine, as long as you have met the requirements. I submitted to insurance last August and was approved in 3 weeks. After it goes to the nurse for review you should be able to call and they can give you a date for when the decision has to be made. Remember to breath and keep us posted!
Karen Be gentle and kind
Lost over 200 pounds
Not skinny by any means but happy by all means :)
Hi Karen and everyone,
Karen must be psychic. I had called on an unrelated claims matter and asked the rep, who are always SO nice. I had known it passed from the Nurse to the Medical reviewer, but they told me it would be another week or so, but then the woman who was helping me on the claims matter, called me back to tell me that I would have a decision by tomorrow, officially. She did not have to call me back but knew I was following this along. She also said she couldn't tell me the result but ..............did say I had "reason to be optimistic"
So, there is the update, and it was submitted to Cigna on the 8th of August. I will let you all know here as soon as they do tell me. I hope I can stop crossing my fingers!

I was approved by Cigna in a week and got my approval letter the next week. I have PPO.
The only thing about them is they are very PICKY about what they want in the Dr. notes for the 6 mo. diet. They denied me about 3 years ago. This time I told my doc at each visit to be sure he noted diet, exercise, successes/problems, etc. As long as you've jumped through all the hoops and they like his notes, you do have reason to be optimistic.
I don't think Cigna requires you to lose weight, just to go through the doc supervised diet. Sometimes the surgeon will require some weight loss... Mine did not, PTL. I've lost 30, but am now beginning to gain some back... Hurry surgery day, Sept. 2!!!
Please let us know when you hear!

Hello everyone, I just got a call this morning from Cigna I was approved. I am thrilled and very happy that despite all the negatives that it was..........just as they said it would be. I do have to say though, I called them from the very first, made sure I complied with all the stated requirements, did the 6 month drs. diet, lost the weight my surgeon and center said I needed to upon the date of last 6 months drs. appt, and then waited. I am just glad that the waiting is over, I think that this part, all of the waiting, is the hardest part!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard the magic words, you were approved!!
