Denial...Is it worth appealing???

I just received a letter from my insurance company denying my claim.  It has an exclusion that states

" treatment of obesity or morbid obesity, including surgery, and any direct or indirect complications and aftereffects thereof; services and supplies connected with weight loss or weight control, except for services to treat diabetes covered under the DIabetes Health Education and Nutritional Therapy benefits. This exclusion applies even if you also have an illness or injury that might be helped by weight loss."

I read on a post on one of the boards that if you state that the surgery is "the only treatment" for a co-mobidity that it should be covered.  My question is.....is it worth my time with this exclusion to even try to appeal?

I am open to any and all advice.

I answered you on the DS board. Just because somebody on some board said they should cover it, doesn't make it true.

You now have to decide if you want to be your own advocate, and work on your employer, who makes the decisions regarding the plans.
