What is a Bariatric Umbrella?

Hello there,

I am trying to get a revision from a lap band to a bypass.  I have been told that I need to do a 6 month diet again.  I had my lapband on 2-07.  I only lost 60 poinds ad started and then had a dialated pouch and repeated issues getting stuck and reflux.  Now I am gaining weight back.  Someone mention that I might still be under the bariatric umbrella but I have no clue what this is.  Can someone help?  I want to be informed so when I call the doctor I know what to say.

I know my Insurance has a 2-3 yr time frame before you can get a revision.  It has to prove that it is not going to work on you losing weight.  So you need to find out what your ins requires regarding a revision. If you are having slippage or other complications then it may be different. Skye

I would look into getting a revision to DS instead of RNY, especially with your reflux problems.
