A couple of months ago I called my insurance company to see what I need to have the RNY wls and I was told that I needed a Dr. referral and take a psych. evaluation. After nearly 2 months of waiting for a Dr appt. I was finally able to get in and the dr. gave me the referral . Then as I was getting all the info from the outpatient clerk she tells me once the surgeon approves me I still have to wait and see if my ins. will cover it.  If anyone has this insurance can you please tell me if it is a long drawn out process or is it fairly reasonable. And I would also like to know the process leading to the surgery.

Thanks!!!

I don't have Pres now, but i did when i had my surgery. What took the longest time was all the tests the doctor requires before even submitting to your insurance. Once everything was submitted, the insurace approved in just 10 days and i had my surgery 2 weeks later. If you like, I can send you the list of tests required and you can get a head start on them. Send me a message with your email and I will email the tests to you.
Good Luck

I can tell you once I completed all of my medical tests and the surgeon sent the request for the surgery, Presbyterian had a decision for me within 24 hours!!!  They have been great!!

So I hear. Everyone I know that has Presbyterian just loves it. Unfortunately for me my request for RNY has been denied. I think it was the referral from the Doctor though because I was never given any kinds of tests.

You haven't had to do ANY medical tests?  That's strange.  Good luck, I hope you can get a reversal!

Well, they have to send you a reason for the denial. Then, you appeal. Don't give up.
