okay so heres the deal!  I dont have great insurance right now....what would happen if I got texas high risk insurance and than self paid for my surgery and than if I had complications would they be covered since they exclude WLS in the first place?  I just dont want to be caught off guard with complications because obviously no one wants them and maybe my luck would be for me but ya never know who its gonna strike.......any feedback would be great please!!!!!!!!!

You'll be in a gray area. I'm in a similar situation and am thinking about trying to get the insurance company to send me something in writing about what complications they do or do not cover.

My insurance (as it stands now, with an exclusion) says they will NOT cover complications unless they happen to be part of a greater, covered, problem. For instance, if you have a heart attack in the hospital they will cover all your care. If you have an infection of the area operated on, they will not cover it.
Duodenal Switch hybrid due to complications.
