Aetna - should I bug them?

I have Aetna and my doctor's office told me yesterday that my papaers would be sent to Aetna yesterday.  So my question is should I call them (Aetna) and bug them, and if so now or in a couple of days? 

Hi I had Aetna too. They sent my paperwork last Wed, and I called on Monday and they said it was still being processed, but today my Drs office called and said I was approved. So less then a week. It wouldnt hurt to call them, but you may not find out anything.

Thanks for the info.  Do you know if the doctor's office Fax or mail in the paper work to the insurance companies?  That way I know when to start calling.

Which procedure were you approved for? I'm with Aetna and trying for the sleeve. any advice I would apreciate. Thanks Skye

I was approved for the RNY. Im not even sure the sleeve was an option for my insurance coverage. But different plans maybe different.

Good news, I called Aetna this morning and they have my paper work and gave me a reference number.

As for the sleeve, my coverage under Aetna does not cover the sleeve.

What Aetna do you have? I have PPO and it says that it covers the sleeve if it is medically necessary (sp).  I will let you know if I get approval or not. It will be a couple of months. I still need to see the nut 2 more times before the consult. Skye

I have PPO NAP.  My research has found out that there are differences even in PPO plans.

Just called Aetna and they said it has been APPROVED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!!

Now wait for the doctor's office to call and schedule MY surgery........
