BCBS Hmo.....Anyone?

Hello OH!!! My name is Kelli and I just wanted to hear from any and EVERYone who has BCBS HMO in Illinois! I have decided to have WLS and I would like to know what to expect from this company Or what are some of the requirements......Thank You In Advance!!

Hi. We had BCBS of Arkansas when I had RNY and there were two ways that I found the best info on their stipulations and coverage.

#1- I got a little bit of info from the Arkansas board members when I posted questions regarding that insurance there.

#2- There very best source of information was actually calling the customer care number for BCBS (your division of course).

Be very straightforward in your questions and keep track of who you talk to and their answers. It may help you later if there are any issues with coverage. Sometimes you can access their information on line and do a search for weight loss surgery coverages/ requirements. As long as they don't tell you that it is completely excluded you have hope. ;o)

I have BCBS of New Jersey.  I have found the best way to find out is to call the insurance company directly and have them give you a list of their requirements.
