So am I supposed to be successful on my 6 month diet?

I only lost 15 pound in 6 months and did not do weigh****chers for all 6 months. I only did it for 4. But I reported to my doctor every month and told him all that I was doing to lose the little that I did and what I was doing or not doing when I didn't lose.  He took very detailed notes to try to show the struggles I was having.

Whatever you do... Be sure and have your PCP document everything. I was at my 6 month pre-diet and was told  by Scottsdale Bariatric that my PCP did not document the necessary information. I ended up having to do another 3 months and my PCP had to make addendums to my medical charts. That was back in April 2008 and my information is barely being sent out to my insurance, this week. My insurance company requires that you jump through all hoops
( and smile while doing it)
In the beginning, I was also told by SBC that I didn't need a sleep apnea test because I had uncontrolled blood pressure w/ two medications. Then at the last minute SBC decided that I should have one. More time passed because you just can't ask for a sleep apnea test.
Be sure that you keep all copies of all documentation because papers can be misplaced.
Good luck...

My insurance, Anthem BC BS IL states that your BMI may not be lower than 40, *but* they use the BMI when you started your six-month diet as opposed to the end result.  Read the fine print and see if yours doesn't have something similar.

I attended WW meetings two years ago and they state that a healthy loss is 1/2 pound - 2 pounds per week.  I don't know how Molina is saying 1-2 unless it's a NIH guideline or something?  Seems a bit high to me.

PS I lost 34 lbs in my six-month diet and was still approved in a week.

I am waiting to be approved by Cigna as I type.

I was on or supposed to be on 6 month diet by my doctor.  I was SOOOO confident that at the end I could lose the weight before they submitted me, and besides, I didn't WANT to give up eating sooner than I had to, that I was SHOCKED that I had GAINED two pounds at 4 months out........and I thought i was ..... maintaining, if not outright trying to lose weight.  That made me say.......ok, time to be serious if I wanted this, and I do and I did.  I had a wls class that day that basically said...........one day at time.........and from that minute on, where I realized I had gained not lost, I said, I can do this for ONE day...........and buckled down.  I only needed to lose 14 pounds by submittal time, but for me that was really 16 thanks to the 2 gained, but I did it.  I knew how to lose weight, but was putting it off to say "goodbye" to food.  Now i am still losing and happy to be under 20 pounds lost, sort of gives me a mental boost or head start.

Now crossing my fingers on approval, but I brought in a typed note to my dr at my 6 months appt of all the things her letter needed to say and she needed to provide.  I hear Cigna can be hard but I want to be optimistic.
