Help!!!
"Any small business with 50 or less employees do not have to pay for obesity surgery!" Does this statement mean that the business doesn't have to include a clause for obesity surgery in the policy? If so, I have read on here that some people have insurance policies that are written like this and they have to hire a lawyer. I'm guessing to appeal to the insurance co? You might try calling some lawyers and asking for a free consult and ask them if you could go that route. That's all the info I have hopes this helps some? Good Luck!
This unfortunately is the way it is everywhere except certain parts of the state of New York.
Insurance companies refuse to include WLS in plans to any employer with less than 50 (in some places, it is 100) employees, and ALL individual plans. It's legal, unfortunately. Frankly, I am not sure how a lawyer can help.
Have you thought of taking on another job temporarily with a bigger company?

Don't know if another job would work or not unless she decided to stay there for at least a year. I had UHC through my employer and they wouldn't cover squat until I had had the policy for 1 full year. Heard others are sometimes like this too depending on what your asking them to pay for. As far as the lawyer doin's, I had read on the VSG board about someone that was talking to a lawyer about it. Don't know the specifics, and can't remember the name (id) but I'm sure if you go there there will be someone that will know. Sry I wasn't much help....
