medicare cross post: should I be worried about bad info from hospital?
I have not had surgery yet. I have medicare with BMI 42.6 & several co morbs (just incase you need to know).
My questions is: I called Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle Washington to ask if I needed to bring in my $1024 out of pocket Medicare part A deductable prior to the surgery. ( because that would delay me for a year ) The girl in Financial said she was "not aware of required paid up front deductables". That they "send the bill to Insurance company and whatever they don't pay is billed to" me.
Since it would not be known to me if she were wrong until Day of Surgery. Should I be worried that she is giving me bad information? How can I know for sure?
I had surgery at a Medicare-approved facility and was not required to pay anything upfront. Whatever Medicare doesn't pay will be billed to me.
The woman at VM gave you correct info.
