question
Well, I know my insurance has an exclusion for WLS, and I plan on fighting it. But so far, they've paid for everything else. They paid for the initial consult with the surgeon...it was just a surgeon consult, the insurance company doesn't know what surgery. They paid for the pre-op testing...the code for testing was "esophageal reflux", no mention of WLS there either. They paid for the visit with the psych...just seeking out mental health counseling, they don't know why. Now, my insurance didn't pay for the psych testing, so the psychologist charged me only what my insurance would have paid, had they paid.

Hapens all the time. They do not read your referrals, only the billing codes submitted. The billing codes for a surgical consult do not have the lapband or bypass codes attached. The only time they see the actual surgery codes is when we ask for surgery. Mine paid for all my pre-op but has an exclusion and did not pay for surgery either. Bonnie
