Called my psychiatrist today & he's concerned I won't compy with gastric bypass surgery rules  unless I have 5 sessions of therapy before WLS & 10 after WLS.  I think he's trying to get extra sessions out of me because I KNOW I'll comply. I explained to him that I previously had a lap-band and did very well with the rules.  While I was in his office he said that everything looked fine - no problem and then 2 weeks later when I called to see what the hold up was he sprung it on me.   I'm frusterated...Maybe I should go to another dr? You said you'd had a lap band and did very well w/the rules. I'm confused, if you did very well why are you wanting another surgery now? Maybe he's right.

Wow - pretty harsh.  Yes, I did have a lap band before, did VERY well & then it slipped and it had to be removed.  The weight has come back over the last 2 years & I need something more permanent.  The fact that I regained the weight doesn't change the fact that I complied very well the 1st time, and I know what I'm getting myself into this second time.  I really feel that I'm being misdiagnosed.

Go to another doctor. Is there one that works with your bariatric surgeon that is on your plan? Mine has two he refers to that is specifically familiar with WLS patients. It seems as if you need someone more interested in your needs than lining their pockets.
Duodenal Switch hybrid due to complications.

Get another consult. It is worth the $200 it may cost you. After you get your knew recommendations, tell the guy where to stick it. So many helth care providers care less and less about the patients! UGH!!!
