i WAS RECENTLY DENIED FROM UHC BECAUSE IT IS AN EXCLUSION. I CALLED WHEN I FIRST STARTEDMY JOURNEY AND ASKED IF IT WAS COVERED.I WAS TOLD IT IS AN EXCLUSION UNLESS IT IS DEEMED MEDICALLY NECCESSARY. I WENT THREW WITH ALL THE PRETESTING, WHICH THEY PAID FOR.MY SURGERY DATE WAS SET FOR JUNE 23RD.I AM SOOO DISAPPOINTED, IKNOW IT IS THE EMPLOYERS CHOICE, BUT DO I HAVE ANY CHANCE OF WINNING MY APPEAL? SWITCHING JOBS IS NOT AN OPTION AND MY BOSS WOULD BE UNWILLING TO CHANGE THE EXCLUSION.HE WOULD GIVE ME A BOOK ON WEIGHT LOSS AND SEND ME ON MY WAY! ANT ADVICE OR HELP WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL.I AM LOOKING INTO HIRING A LAWYER. TO SELF PAY IN THE STATE I LIVE IS MORE THAN $40,000, I AM NOT POOR BUT THAT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SWING.HELP JONNALEE

1) Oh for the love of pete, please, take off the caps lock. My poor eyes. 2) Exclusions may be beat but it's rare and probably needs a lawyer - check with Gary. 3) Have you looked into Mexico? I'm sure you could have the surgery - with airfare and room - for $15,000 or so.
Duodenal Switch hybrid due to complications.
