My insurance company would approve me for a RNY, based on my research, for me, a Duodenal Switch was the way to go. I was not ever told why I was being denied; when I called I talked to two staff nurses who asked: "What is a Duodenal Switch? We've never heard of it." Plus, When I told one of many I talked to, there wasn't any exclusions in the insurance brochure or on their website; in fact, when I accessed the website I did find Duodenal Switch there. The only note was: "Rarely Used." I was told by the insurance person: "Do you realize how big our brochure would be if we put every exclusion in it?" Oh yeah, the office manager from my surgeon's office had been put on hold 45 minutes by them.
This is when I knew I was in DEEP STUFF and needed professional help. In steps Gary. In all my dealings w/Gary, he's patient, enthusiastic, works for you. Answers my e-mails, has talked to me, kept me plugging along. Gary fought my insurance company for TWO YEARS!! I AM APPROVED AND HAVE A DATE!! Fighting this type of battle takes time. In my case, I had no idea nor the energy to deal w/this mess. He is honest and up front, answers a multitude of questions without charging you. In my case, when I chose what plan I thought would work best for me, he took a $100 off my plan. I'm sure there will be people who will/would disagree with me; that's fine. It's still a free country. Plus, everyone views any situation differently. I'm so fortunate and truly humbled that I've been approved and have it in writing. I'm not exactly counting the days, however, it's close!!
