The visits I was speaking of are to the nutrtionist and I'm planning to go to Barix of Ohio (but surgery in MI) any info on the process? Thanks...everyone looks soooo good on here it's amazing!  I'm sure it feels good to gain your "old" self back again.  I can't wait.

BCBS AL will accept a 6 month medically supervised diet done within the last 2 years. Two main points: it has to be a minimum of 180 days, and has to be done by someone other than the bariatric surgeon's group/associates. You need monthly documentation from the nutritionist for the full 6 months. I have had many patients in a similar situation, but come to find out they only saw the nutritionist every 2 months, and that does not count. Good luck! Bonnie

You can use diets with anyone as long as it is:

1. physicians supervised even if you go to weigh****chers
2. monthly weigh ins and discussion of weight, diet and exercise
3. progress notes note each months visit
4. a well written report would be nice as well.
