HI I am a newbie and have a few questions. I have a appointment with the surgeon next week, and my BMI is currently at a 36. I have type II Diabetes and have taken medication(byeta) for a little over a year. I also take medication (lipitor) for High Cholesterol. I  am getting very nervous about my insurance approving the surgery. My primary insurance is Central Valley Trust Blue Cross, and 2nd Insurance is Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee (basic).  What can I do to make sure I have everything I need for the approval? I already had the Psych. testing. Has anyone had a BMI of 36 or lower, and got an approval? Any help would be a great ! Thank You!

Call your insurance companies and see what their policies are.  They will most likely send you the information on what their guide lines are for WLS.  When I started my journey that was the first thing I did. Called my insurance company and asked what they required.   I've learned not to be afraid of the insurance companies, your paying for their services!!
