BCBS of AL- HELP!

I have an appointment with my primary care physician this afternoon at 2pm.  I have BCBS of AL insurance, and I was reading through the requirements of the six month diet and exercise program one last time and I noticed that the six month plan must include a consultation with a nutritionist.  I called BCBS to verify this.  However, I forgot to ask whether the six months starts today because it is today that I am seeing my PCP, or if it starts six months from the date that I see the Nut.   Does anyone know whether the six months starts now or when I see the nut??  Hugs, Angel

My surgeons office told me I can do the nutritionist consult anytime during the 6 month diet. BCBS of AL also doesn't cover the nutritionist visit.

Previous poster is right. MAKE SURE YOUR DIET IS 180 DAYS, NOT JUST 6 MONTHS! Some patients do their first visit at the end of the month and the last at the first of the month so they can get approval quicker, but that will backfire on you! You might need to have 7 visits, but it is better to get approved the first time, fighting an appeal can take months!  Timeanddate.com has a great calculator to help.......180 days from 4/24/08 is actually 10/21/08, so make sure your last MSD visit with your PCP is after that date. I have gotten denials from BCBS AL for diets less than 180 days. Good luck! Bonnie
