Insurance Question

Recently, my job description changed and with that change, I was required to join the union. (I wasn't pleased with  all the changes, but I need to keep my job).  I had insurance benefits  whi*****luded bariatric coverage.  Great!  It practically paid for my surgery and was looking forward to having continued coverage for the fills and medically necessary appointments that are required.  Follow me so far.  So, when my job description changed,so did my insurance benefits.  Since I had to join the union, I had to take their coverage.  And now the new insurance doesn't cover ANYTHING related to bariatrics.   So, my question to you:  Do I have any recourse?

Your union rep should be able to help you with this. You should be able to appeal to someone about this. There should be some loophole about pre-exisitng conditions for you as being a covered expense, no waiting periods, etc. Since your band was pre-exisiting....you would be covered. Just a thought...good luck!

Thanks Bonnie...I have made initial contact with my union rep.  He is supposed to be finding out if I am covered.  I am definitely hoping it is.
