I am new to all of this and I just need some advice from someone with some experience. I have my consultation appointment on the 8th. What do I need to do to get my ducks in a row before my appointment? Thanks, Melissa

You need to call your insurer and find out your requirements for approval. DO you need a 6 month medically supervised diet? DO you have to have any specific psych testing done, a nut consult? All BCBS policies are different, so unfortunately, I cannot help you, your title does not provide any info. CHeck out the website on your insurance card, in the search, type bariatric surgery and see if you can find the policy and criteria.

Don't rely on verbal answers.  Get your weight loss surgery policy in writing from your insurance company. Typical: three or six month weight loss surpervised by PCP maybe a psy evaluation five year weight loss history BMI over 35 with comorbidities or over 40 without Jim Randall
