I AM APPROVED! Guys I have been going through this for almost a year. I gave up on this in November after being denied for the 5yr history. I got back on the ball last month. My insurance got my new paperwork on 2/15/08. I called today to confirm it was received.I was told by a Rep that they did not have it. So i called the insurence coor. w/ my surg. office. She said she sent it and that I should give them more time to get it scanned in. well that was this a.m. at 10. I gave it n more thought and figured I would just call on wedn. well on my wasy home from work my cell rings. I answer it and the lady (a diff. lady then this morning) advised she is calling with bcbs of Il and she wanted me to know that the paperwork was in the wrng department and that they have it in reveiw.I said okay thanks. ready to hang up ,then she says you are approved! i started to cry and scream. she said she will personally fax the approval to my surg.office. and mine is in the mail. I swear i never though this day would come.I know it sounds cliche but don't give up! Honestly this board helped me a ton! thanks for ALL the support. my ins coordinator even tried to discourage me, maybe not puposley but she said bcbs/il is tough. this is just my day! and guess what else... i won $100 on a lotto ticket lol

BCBS of IL can be tough but it can be done! I've had to do several 2nd and 3rd appeals out of my office because of their craziness! But it's no different than some of the other insurers! COngrats!

I had heard that BCBS IL was tough too, and that's who I had/have.  So  I printed every page of requirements out and followed it to a T.  When ever they said they didn't have something, I spoke to the actual Nurse Manager (Her name was Lynn) not a rep who just answers the phone.  Lynn was very nice and personable.  We talked about anything and everything.  I had every page in front of me that the dr office sent.  So we would go over it together, and she would check it off .  She insisted on making sure she had everything in order before submitting it to the review board.  She old me that one little thing will kick it back.  I think she was great and I also think my "Kill em with kindness" additude helped things go better.  I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of an irate customer.  And wether you like it or not, that rep can purposly slow things down.  I have been that spiteful rep at my job before...  (I know shame on me) It did take 6 weeks to process my case, but all in all it was handled well. I may just be a lucky one...
